In 2017, the companies declared that PayPal would be the Android Pay’s payment method, which later on became Google pay.
The previous year, users could pay for services like Gmail, Google Play, YouTube and Google Store by adding PayPal as a payment mode on Google Pay.
And now, a very similar integration is coming for online retailers who use Google Pay on their mobile application or business website.
Google says, because of 2018 integration, millions of users already have payment mode as PayPal saved to their Google Account.
Online merchants will be able to choose PayPal as a payment mode in their own Google Pay integration because of this expanded integration.
All they need to do is to change a small piece of code (mentioned on ) to the list of enabled payment methods.
After that, any online users who want to pay a bill or purchase through Google Pay would have the choice of choosing PayPal to make the purchase.
The benefits consumers will have is that the less number of steps while checking out, as they don’t have to sign in to PayPal when they use it through Google Pay.
Users will also have access to Return Shipping benefits and PayPal’s Purchase Protection.
For PayPal merchants, they will receive the money in their PayPal Business Account, when the buyer chooses PayPal through Google Pay.
PayPal started linking with its competitors like Apple and Google several years ago and, is still progressing as other tech companies combine its service.
PayPal started to work with rivals like Visa, Mastercard, Google, Samsung, Apple and Walmart so it can have better traction on retail where a transaction is carried out and within the modern mobile wallets proposed by mobile OS platform makers Apple, Samsung and Google.
